MarCap Funds RAD Tech with $30 Million Financing Facility
Chicago, Illinois - September 13, 2007 - MarCap Corporation announced today that it has provided a $30 million financing facility to RAD Technology Medical Systems, LLC to develop or expand free standing Radiation Containment Treatment Centers. One of the nation’s largest healthcare financing companies, MarCap works directly with oncology treatment centers, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic imaging centers and specialty care centers, and provides funding for equipment manufacturers. RAD Tech designs, develops and markets Radiation Treatment Centers for temporary or permanent use. The company’s patented products expedite traditional radiation shielding cancer treatment construction and installation, offering unparalleled speed of deployment with installation in less than half the time of traditional construction. The exclusive RAD products provide health providers the shortest time period to bring new treatment service on line, allowing for the rapid adoption of powerful new technology.
The MarCap backing will enable RAD Tech to expand into new areas, as well as provide creative financing solutions to customers seeking to expand or develop freestanding Radiation Containment Treatment Centers. Some of the funding from MarCap will be used to initiate RAD Tech’s TRV (Transportable Radiation Vault) Lease program. This exciting new technology allows centers to temporarily perform their Radiotherapy services in the leased TRV while customer’s own equipment is upgraded in their own vaults. The RAD TRVs and all of RAD’s products are designed to accommodate a full range of equipment manufacturers including Varian Medical Systems Inc., Elekta, Siemens, TomoTherapy, Accuray Incorporated and BrainLAB.
"RAD Tech’s unique products provide opportunities where logistics were previously unavailable,” says Mark Idzerda, vice president of oncology and imaging for MarCap. “RAD’s approach enables customers to relocate equipment and manage assets more effectively. Perhaps most exciting is RAD’s launch of a true temporary turnkey radiation center solution which will allow customers to upgrade technology without losing patients during the conversion period.”
According to John Lefkus, President of RAD Tech, RAD’s technology and products are prodding market evolution, offering tremendous benefits to patient care and the business margin of cancer treatment. "We believe the MarCap relationship provides exciting benefits beyond financial resources," said Lefkus. "MarCap’s understanding of the market and business model simplifies a very complicated financial transaction. There are more than 1,000 linear accelerators in the market that require replacement in order to offer the latest technology and could use the TRV. We look forward to the market’s response to this exciting innovation.”
